Breeches or Culottes are knee length trousers worn by men during centuries for day and evening wear.


This sewing pattern shows breeches of the late 18th century with a wide fall front, in-seam back pockets, two pockets hidden under the fall front and a watch pocket at the waistband (welt pocket).
The breeches are buttoned at the knee, the knee band will be closed with a buckle. They have a wide waistband, buttoned in the front, the width of the waistband can be regulated with a cotton tape at the back. The breeches have a wide back, compared to modern trousers and are fully lined with a light to midweight linen or cotton fabric.
